SumRise to be featured:

 

We are excited to share that the Studio B3 product SumRise will be featured at the 2024 TOP Product Showcase on December 11.

This year, Studio B3 joined forces with the U.S. Census Bureau, the Department of Education, and an extraordinary cohort of public and private partners as part of a 12-week technology sprint as part of The Opportunity Project (TOP). Our mission: to build a digital tool to strengthen the STEM educator workforce.

The result is a product designed to bring clarity to complex, school-level data – helping career-switchers and policymakers understand where new STEM educators are most likely to thrive and where support is most urgently needed. 

We’re so proud to present our work as one of the featured teams at the TOP 2024 Product Showcase hosted virtually by the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday, December 11. This event will highlight digital tools built in response to this year’s critical problem statements, including those supporting indigenous communities, education equity, and beyond.

TOP MVP Summit

Studio B3 is proud to present SumRise at the TOP (The Opportunity Project) MVP Summit on November 7, 2024.

 

The Opportunity Project is a sprint-based innovation program that brings together technologists, government, and communities to rapidly prototype digital products – powered by federal open data – that addresses real-world challenges facing people across the country.

In collaboration with the U.S. Census Bureau, the Department of Education, and professionals from across the education ecosystem, Studio B3 developed SumRise to help strengthen the STEM educator workforce.

SumRise empowers both career-switchers and policymakers by providing insight into the environments at over 100,000 schools nationwide. Through a set of curated, school-level metrics, users can evaluate the financial, institutional, and community factors that shape the experience of STEM educators.

Whether you’re exploring a transition into teaching or working to support workforce development, SumRise offers a powerful lens into where support is most needed – and where it can make the biggest difference.

MENSA Regional Gathering:

Mensa of Northeastern New York’s regional gathering “RechaRGe” is returning to its usual Labor Day slot in Troy NY.

MENSA Regional Gathering:

Join us at the Metropolitan Washington Mensa 2024 regional gathering! This annual “Pandemic” event (so named, long before the events of the last few years!) is August 16 – 18 in Herndon VA. Studio B3 will be giving one of the many engaging talks that will be part of this year’s line-up.

The Opportunity Project:

We are pleased to announce that Studio B3 has been selected as a participant in a federal initiative to develop tools that enable local education agencies, states, and school districts to expand and strengthen the STEM teacher workforce.

The Opportunity Project (TOP) is a program of the United States Census Bureau Open Innovation Labs that uses “government data to build digital tools with, by, and for the people,” using a sprint framework for rapid digital tool development. 

Studio B3 will be serving as a tech team—one component of a creative problem-solving sprint that unites government agencies, tech teams, user advocates, and product advisors for cross-sector collaboration on our nation’s pressing challenges.

With our expertise in gifted students, the gifted adult workforce, and our deep love of all things STEM, Studio B3 is excited to develop national-level, user-friendly digital resources to empower gifted adults to explore STEM teaching careers and to help states, school districts, and teacher preparation programs strengthen the educator workforce. 

At Studio B3, we have always seen ourselves as a force for good. We are delighted to be partnering with and supported by leaders at the US Department of Education and US Census Bureau on this TOP challenge, in furtherance of both the public good and our mission to help great minds do great work.
